"Intel Unveils 14th Gen Core HX and Non-K CPUs at CES 2024, Featuring Raptor Lake Architecture and Enhanced Connectivity"
Intel announced a variousness of new chips for desktop and notebook devices as part of the 14th generation at CES 2024. The company also announced its new Core U series for thin and light machines.
First up is the new 14th generation flagship HX series. This includes five new chips, led by the flagship i9-14900HX. These are based on the updated Raptor Lake architecture, which is essentially the same as the 13th generation, but with increased clock speeds. This also includes support for Thunderbolt 5, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4.
Next is the desktop section. Intel previously launched 14900K, 14700K, and 14600K parts, but now the company is launching locked non-K variants along with additional i5 and i3 models. There are a total of 18 new SKUs, many of which are aimed at system integrators, so we won't cover them all here. The main models are as follows. The main (or rather the only) change compared to the previous generation model is the increase in clock speed (with the exception of his 14700 with 4 E cores). There are also versions of all of these chips that don't have a built-in GPU.
Finally, the company has also launched Intel Core U Series 1 processors for thin and light notebooks. The series includes three new models with up to 10 cores and support for Thunderbolt 4, PCIe Gen 4.0, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 7.
Desktop parts will be on sale starting today. Mobile parts will be available from laptop manufacturers in the coming weeks surely.
